Merparten av de urgamla träden längs Kungsgårdsallén i Kastelholm, Sund har visat sig vara ihåliga och somliga har dessutom drabbats av sjukdomen stubbyna, som beror på en sporsäckssvamp som förorsakar stamröta.
När besiktningen gjordes 2019 visade det sig att 75 procent av träden var i dålig kondition och 42 av träden behövde fällas.
Nu ska en förnyelseplan tas fram för att avgöra de kvarvarande trädens framtid och för återplantering. Landskapsregeringen tecknar avtal med konsulten Ramböll Sverige Ab för uppdraget. Kostnaden är budgeterad till 24.465 euro.
Allén anlades ursprungligen runt år 1770 av hovrättsrådet Samuel Ehrenmalm som då stod som arrendator av Kastelholms kungsgård.
